Cassie's Testimony

I had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home.  Every time the doors were open or there was an activity...our family was present.

During a Sunday School opening period when I was seven,  our Superintendent was going over John 3:16 with all of us.  At the end of class, she had us all bow our heads and raise our hand if we were interested in "getting saved".  My best friend and I raised our hands.  I remember the exact place we met in the church and prayed.  (As I grew older, I would remember that she prayed for us, but I never prayed the "sinner's prayer").  I was then baptized at the age of twelve.

Fast forward to my sophomore year in college...I was now nineteen years old, in a Christian college.  I was sitting in a session during a Mission's Conference.  I knew something was wrong.  (Every day when I would walk into our cafeteria, I would see a sign that had an arrow starting from the ground and aiming toward the sky.  The words would play in my mind....WARNING!  OCCUPANTS MAY VANISH AT ANY TIME!!    I wasn't sure that I would go to Heaven when Jesus returned at the Rapture.)  Our messages during the conference that particular day were centered around the Shepherd and His sheep.  The sheep that were being focused on were the "black" sheep - those that hadn't asked Jesus to be their Savior.  I knew I was one of those sheep, but I refused to go forward.  My pride got in the way.  I'd been at school with all of these kids for 18 months--they didn't know I wasn't a born again believer.

After the meeting closed for the evening, I asked Lem to go with me to make a phone call.  We were back in the day of the good, ole pay phone.  I called the president of our college, Dr. Bob, and asked if we could have a few moments of his time.  Even though it was 10:00 in the evening, he graciously invited us to his home.  He and his wife, Shirley, met Lem and me at their front door.  I remember sitting on the middle cushion of their beautiful floral couch and pouring out my heart and knowing that I wouldn't go to Heaven if Christ were to return at that moment.

In September 1986, I asked the Lord to be my personal Savior.  Act 16:31is what I base my salvation on and I claim John 10:27-30 as the verses for assurance of my salvation.  I followed in believer's baptism in December 1986.

I know that God's way is always perfect.  He always has a plan for my life.  It is my job, as a Christian, to follow Him and be obedient to HIs word.  Sharing the love of Christ with my students is always easy.  Sharing with others around me has been my biggest, but most rewarding, challenge.  I know that the Lord will always bring me in contact with those who have a need to know Him as their Savior.  I must be always ready to answer the call.

Lem's Testimony

I was born in the Philippines.  When I was in 6th grade, my family moved to theUnited States.  By faith, Christ saved me from my sins when I was in high school (Acts 16:31; Eph. 2:8; 2 Tim. 3:15).  I attended Faith Baptist Bible College in Iowa and received my Bachelor of Science in Education and in Bible.  This will be my twenty-first year in the Christian school ministry and my eighth year at TCS.

My family attends Ridgewood Baptist Church.  I am currently involved in the Junior High and High School youth group.  My life verse is Matthew 6:33.

My family had the opportunity to be involved in four mission trips during the last few years.  We are thrilled to be able to invite some of the students and have them partner with us in our ministry.

My prayer is that every student will know Christ as their Savior.  It is my desire that I may be used of God to encourage students to love Him and serve Him much more than they have before.  My goal is to teach them to obey Him and do their best in all things.  (Deuteronomy 6:5; Luke 2:52; I Corinthians 10:31)

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."   Matthew 6:33
