VBS ABOUT US

Hannah

Hi! I'm Hannah.  I am moving into 8th grade.  I play volleyball, cheerleading, and basketball at my school.  I am the oldest of four girls.  I have three younger siblings.  I attend Christ Community Church in Plainfield.  Eventually, I will go to High School in Minooka, where I live.

After school one day in kindergarten, I asked Christ into my heart.  As I grew older and more mature, I also grew more understanding of my Lord.  He is my comforter.  My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11.  I am going on this trip to serve other and to grow closer to God.  I'm ecstatic for this trip and I hope you will be too.

Mikaela

I am going into my freshman year at Christ Lutheran Academy.  I play basketball and volleyball and I love animals.  My favorite number is 5 (my sports jersey number).

My mom and I were walking home from the library one day and I asked her if God came back at that moment, would I go with Him to heaven.  Mom said no.  I asked why and then she told me why.  When we got home, we went to my room and mom led me in the prayer of salvation.  Seven years later, I was at my grandparent's home finishing our devotions.  Mom said something that made me ask, "Am I really saved?"  So I talked to mom about it and she helped me renew my faith.

I attend Harvest Baptist Church in Oswego.  My favorite verses are: Jeremiah 29:11 and I Timothy 4:12.  I am going on this trip because: 1) after going on our missions trip last year, I felt called to go on short-term missions trips; 2) I feel challenged to take a step forward in my walk with Christ.  Helping with VBS can be that step.

Jon

Hello, my name is Jonathan.  I am thirteen years old, and I am going into eighth grade at Trinity Christian School.  I was born in Tuscon, AZ but moved to Chicago, IL when I was four months old.  My dad is the worship pastor at Harvest Baptist Church in Oswego.  My mom works at the pre-school at TCS.  My brother and his wife live in Oak Park, IL.  My sister and her husband also live in Oak Park.

I grew up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus into my heart when I was five years old at a five-day camp.  I was baptized at HBC when I was eight years old and continue to live my life for Christ.  My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11 because it tells me God always has a plan for me.

Things I enjoy include: basketball, tennis, soccer, legos, and playing with my dogs.  I have joined this group on this mission trip because I believe God has called me to strengthen my faith in Him deeper, and I believe this will help me to do that.  I believe God will teach me to have a more serving heart through this trip.

Mariah

Hello, my name is Mariah.  I just graduated 8th grade and am going to Minooka Community High School for my  Freshman year.  I would like to become a nurse when I grow up.  I attend Living Word Bible church in Channahon.  I was born in Joliet, Illinois and I was adopted at three and a half.  I like basketball, volleyball, and cheerleading!  I have four half brothers and one half sister.  Only one brother lives with us and he is twenty years old.  I have three older brothers.  My sister is the coolest sister ever!!!  They all are married and have three kids or so.  That also means that I am an aunt to about thirteen kids!!!  I am also a great-aunt!

I received Christ a little bit after I was adopted!  I was baptized shortly after I received Christ.  I was really looking forward to this mission's trip because I have always loved working with kids!  I also love spreading the Word to little children who are eager to sing and dance!  My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11!  I expect to grow more in the faith while also working with those bright-faced children!!!

Allison

Hello, my name is Allison.  I go to Trinity Christian school.  I am going into 8th grade.  I live in Channahon with three brothers and one sister.

My favorite color is light blue.  The thing I like to do in my free time is sing!  My favorite sport is softball (I am a pitcher).  I also play soccer, volleyball, and cheerleading.

I attend Harvest Baptist Church in Plainfield.  I was saved when I was three years old.  My mom and dad prayed with me.  My favorite verse is Ecclesiastes 7:20 "There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins."  This is my favorite verse because it reminds me that when I mess up, I'm not the only one who messes up.  In this trip, I expect to learn how to deal with kids better.  And I have wanted to go on a missions trip.

Nathan

My name is Nathan and I am thirteen years old.  I am going into the eighth grade and I can't wait for high school.  My favorite sports are basketball and soccer.  I go to Trinity Christian School and I love it there.  My favorite number is twenty-one; in fact, all the years that I have played at my school, that is my number.  The age I found Christ was at age seven.  I accepted the Lord as my Savior and was baptized.  When I was twelve, I was baptized again in the name of Jesus Christ.

Something recently just challenged me about how strong my faith really was.  On April 30th, my mom went to the doctor for a check-up.  She was diagnosed with cancer.  We were devastated.  Everyone was hurt not knowing what would happen.  I thought of the worst, thinking how it would end.  But I stayed in touch with God.  Now she has no cancer and I praise God for it.

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."   Matthew 6:33
